A Rant About Rantt

On Wednesday we talked about the relationship between Nerdom and Rantt. Today we break down exactly what Rantt is, what it was meant to be, and how it connects to The Mess.

If you were to take a look at our social media posts going back... hmmm, well let's just say a long time, you'd see that the first few hashtags are always the same: #mymess, #nerdom, #themess, #poetryland, and finally #rantt. I point this out so you know that Rantt was always in the plans, we just expected it to come about a little differently. For starters, when you look at the different pages here on My Mess you'll see there is one for The Mess, Nerdom, and Poetryland, but not Rantt. That's mainly because Poetryland was supposed to drop before Rantt, but due to delays with the project (because of difficult collaboration efforts), Poetryland kept getting postponed. It was sad to watch because I really wanted to launch it as soon as possible...then I just wanted to launch it by the year anniversary...then I shot for the 100th episode being the launch...clearly it never quite worked out that way.
It was sad but I am confident that Poetryland will have it's day in the sun when it's meant to- meaning without compromise. So, when Poetryland's debut flopped due to impending deadlines, I thought really hard about what I wanted for 100. Our two biggest projects were not ready, by any means. Those two being: the previously mentioned, Poetryland, and... Rantt. 'But wait, you launched Rantt!' You're right, I did. Clearly. But I didn't launch the Rantt we had been working on. I said I would not post Poetryland until I could post it without compromise... I eventually realized that I did not feel the same way about Rantt. It was supposed to be a full podcast with a Patreon attached. That was the actual reason why it didn't have a tab here on My Mess, because it was going to be featured on YouTube instead.
Between all the schedule conflicts for shooting and the lack of time for proper editing, it was being pushed back just as much as Poetryland! I was frustrated and at a complete loss for what to do. It was a month out from our 100th post celebration and besides the photoshoot, I had nothing. I was becoming increasingly worried and depressed over the prospects of having nothing to bring to the table for this milestone. And then I went on TikTok. I don't go on there often and happened to stumble onto a nerdy Livestream. That was where the seed was planted, but I didn't dare say anything out loud. I kept it to myself and kept watering that little seed over and over again by myself. Eventually I worked up the courage to bring it to the table for a few people to discuss. These were people I trusted and often go to for advise regarding My Mess. I laid out my plan of launching Rantt as a Livestream and letting it slowly grow into the podcast I actually wanted. Surprisingly to me, it was well received. Not only that, but it seemed to lift a lot of burden I had been feeling, as well as what James and Chase had been feeling.
So far, we are just having fun, and I think that's a good start. This ended up being a great opportunity for me to learn about where and when I am willing to compromise, and when and where I am not. From these little Livestreams, I've received a lot of great feed back and ideas for future projects I really hope to bring to fruition. This blog is a big dream of mine, that is constantly growing and evolving into more. I don't always execute it the best, there is still a lot I have to learn, but I am happy with the progress we've made. I'm happy that I'm still moving forward and working for this, because it is something I love and believe in.
I am on a journey- a very messy journey- and I want you to come along with me. I want to share my mess with you and very much want you to share your mess with me. With that being said, I hope you'll join us in Rantt, it might be the partner to Nerdom, but it is also a platform for The Mess. It is where you get to see us at our truest natures: just a bunch of nerds living this life as best we can. I say a lot: Life is a mess, let's make something with it... well, I'm making something.
Thank you so much for joining me on a rant about Rantt. We've been talking about it a lot, but it's just because of how excited I am and I want you to be excited too! I hope you have a wonderful week, let's kick it off strong! I will be back on Wednesday with some Nerdom! Until then, stay safe, and stay messy friends.
