So, What's Going On Here?

Not a full reveal of all my secrets but an in depth explanation on my intentions for Poetryland.

My Mess has been up for almost a whole week. To be honest, it feels like I have always had this site and it hasn't even been seven days yet, get it together Allison. I am grateful though. I have seen more support than I ever anticipated, maybe because I thought I would mostly be writing for myself. But even when I thought the blog would fail, I always had high hopes for this page right here. Some of you have noticed that Poetryland has remained strangely vacant in the past week. Not the best business tactic, but know it was intentional.

Fun Fact: Poetryland was going to happen with or without My Mess. Second fun fact: I am a ball of anxiety. Often times, I keep my feelings bottled up until I can have a nice argument in the shower, where I know I can win. Ya know, like a normal person. But sometimes not even a nice shower conversation can properly express myself, so I write poetry.

So, what is going on? What do these two facts have to do with each other? What in the world am I doing with all this shower poetry? I'm glad you asked reader. The unhelpful answer is simply: Poetryland.

“You should put art to it.” -Bridget Costello

Poetryland is currently under construction because I am working on a collaboration. Long before My Mess came to be, or was even a thought in my head, I had a realization. My realization was that I had enough poetry on one topic to make a series. Not only did I have enough content but I actually liked the content I was faced with. I battled with myself for a long time not knowing what to do with it though. Eventually, I brought it to a friend of mine and read her a couple of pieces. Thankfully, she didn't hate it. But more than that she came up with an amazing idea: "you should put art to it". The problem I was having with the idea of putting my poetry out there was that I didn't want to put it out there in just written form. I also wasn't fond of the idea of just a video of me performing it. So, what else is there? Art. That's what else. If you read my post on comics, you know that I love art and music mash ups. When she said it I immediately thought of Webtoon and I became entranced by the idea of my poetry to art.

Thus, Poetryland was born. The idea of a channel, or platform of some sort, where I could share my poetry with the world wide web and hope that maybe someone, somewhere could relate to it. All this being done by, me recording my work and an artist drawing to the poetry. A beautiful blend of fine arts to appease my picky needs. And I have to say, I am so excited.

It might be unwise to let you guys in on this little secret so soon in the making. But This blog is made to be honest no matter what we are talking about. And the fact is I am more excited about this than I am about anything else. I cannot guarantee that my poetry is any good or that my execution of this idea will be clean but I can say this, you are getting a piece of my heart when you come to Poetryland. You get my ugliness, my beauty, my heartache, and my purity. Most clearly you will get my mess and I thank you in advance for receiving it.

I hope you all look forward to the upcoming project and I will keep you all posted on any progress. In the mean time, keep tuning in on My Mess to see updates in Nerdom and The Mess, which will continue posting regularly. Thank you all once again. I am up to 17 subscribers! I know that is not a usually a bragging point, but it has me misty eyed beyond belief. I sincerely hope you all have a wonderful weekend and that you make sure to stay messy my friends.
