Easter is an important holiday in our house, it might be to some of you as well or it might not be. But it is all of our first holiday celebrated in quarantine and I think that makes this Easter a little more personal.

As a Christian, it is clear why this is such an important holiday. Today is the day we celebrate Jesus' resurrection. There is no better reason to celebrate than that. But I am also conscious of the fact that not all of our readers here on My Mess are Christians. To that end I would also like to tell you that Easter has always been an important holiday celebrated in my home, even before we were Christian. Even now, as I sit here and try to place my finger on "why", I don't have a reasonable explanation. Thanksgiving and Christmas was always tense and stressful. But Easter was the one holiday that I never remember fighting. Unless you count the bomb competitive Easter egg hunt we would hold. Yes, the more I think about it, my family has always done well with Easter and that is something I will always be grateful for.
But this Easter is different. Usually a break for the family to come together, but this year, we have all be stuck together due to quarantine. So, I imagine some houses might be tense. Some parents exhausted. Some kids bored or sick of nagging parents. But ya know what? It's sunny out as I write this. The breeze is nice. Perfect weather for an egg hunt. So, I propose this: Let today still be a holiday. Whether you are celebrating our Savior conquering death or are simply grateful to be with family. Let go of the tension for a moment to run around the yard with the dog or hunting eggs. Play some yard games in the sun. Take that tension and get rid of it through some healthy competition today if you can. I know today can be healing.
This is a shorter message today and posted early as well. Because I want you all to have the opportunity to have a different day today than maybe what you woke up to. I hope today is as magical as that special bunny all the kids talk about and as freeing as this breeze I'm feeling as I write on the back porch. More than anything, I want to wish you all a very Happy Easter.
Thank you for joining me for this little holiday blurb. From my house hold to yours, we hope to have a very Happy Easter Sunday. Enjoy the sun and I hope to see you this Wednesday for some Nerdom. In the mean time, stay easy, stay breezy, and stay messy my friends.
