*Insert Screaming Here*

What a week to be a part of the Riordanverse Fandom. It is not often fans get "what they want" in terms of reboots for poor, book-to-movie adaptations. But we are about to.

This week on social media, you might have seen the PJO fandom rise from the ashes and start kicking up a big fuss. So, what is all the hubbub about? I am so happy to answer that. It all started with Disney+. With the launch of Disney+, everyone was scrambling to see what kind of content Disney would put out. Star Wars was given a show and seems to be doing really, really well for itself. Now, you might be wondering how Star Wars has ANYTHING to do with these books I already bombarded you all with. Well, with the success of Disney+, their need for more content, and the knowledge that Disney currently owns the rights to the Riordanverse, you have a formula that equals: possiblity. So naturally, the fandom took to the internet to fight a mighty battle.

A battle worthy of Elysium and Valhalla! Dear readers, the fandom fought valiantly to get Disney's attention. And? They won. They got Disney's attention and Rick Riordan was flown out to LA to have talks with "the powers-that-be", as he put it. Maybe I should explain something. PJO has two movies already. "But then why didn't you talk about them in your Riordanverse article, Allison?" Oh naive reader, it's because they're trash. The movies are so painful to watch that the fandom chooses to either not talk about them or scream about them and I was not prepared to scream... UNTIL NOW!

It is important I emphasize that it is not even the fans that hate this movie the most, but Rick Riordan himself. He has shamed the movies publicly [multiple times]! He tried to stop the monstrosities from ever being born and has been fighting for justice against this literary slaughter, on behalf of the fandom, this whole time. And now we might have redemption. Possibly, more than we could have ever hoped for, too. The talks are about a TV show instead of movies, which would work much better for the size of this universe. A TV show would benefit everyone! Disney would have a new hit series for Disney+, the TV series would allow more time to work with details that movies just don't have time for [which would please fans] and Uncle Rick would more than likely be more involved in this creation. Plus a TV series is expandable, each season could be a book or a series, eventually including all the books! This also keeps in mind that Riordan is still writing! This is just too exciting.

Unfortunately, I should bring us back down to reality for a minute. I'm sorry but I have to say it: this is all just speculation. Nothing is set in stone and, unfortunately, we don't know anything for sure except that the meetings took place and Uncle Rick says he thinks it went well. But never fear, I think timing is on our side. Disney+ is wonderful for having all of Disney's old content but to contend as a streaming service they need new original content to stream. They would be fools to not take advantage of this opportunity, it's an absolute gold mine! Being a nerd is "in", and this is a nerdy series that they could do incredibly cool things with. Dare I say it? Live action OR animated! This is also extremely relevant since this week PJO is celebrating 10 years of being on the NY Best Sellers List. NOW. IS. OUR. TIME!

On top of all of that, this week, The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical announced that they were going on another tour! This makes me particularly happy since Family Book Club was unable to see it during its North American Tour and though it is still on Broadway, we are not. You can bet that Family Book Club will be following this tour as well as the unfolding's of our much deserved reboot.

Hollywood has a habit of rebooting things it shouldn't and not touching things it should. But we are starting to see a change in the industry. The redesign of Sonic The Hedgehog movie is a great example of fans being listened to. We also recently got the reboot for Series of Unfortunate Events, which was a book to movie adaptation that got rebooted into a TV series by Netflix. And of course, the reboot that made me cry many tears of joy, Fruits Basket. Manga to TV series adaptation that was rebooted into an incredible [not to mention necessary] new series. The point is, fans are being heard and better reboots are coming. A PJO reboot could happen, and it should happen. The fans hath spoken.

This reboot has the potential to be either something incredible or incredibly tragic, but the simple knowledge that it is a possibility gives me hope. I think we are going to see some great things come of this. And if I am wrong, well, it can't be worse than what we already have, amiright?

Thank you so much for tuning in to Nerdom for this breaking news. I was so sad to miss posting on Sunday but the rush of Christmas is catching up with me this year. I hope you are all doing well as we approach the end of our year. I will see you this Sunday over in The Mess here on My Mess. Stay hopeful, stay nerdy, and most of all, stay messy.
