We have been knee deep in coverage for the 2021 Anime Awards, which will airs on the 19th- but what comes next?

There is so much going on in the anime world right now. So many shows are airing or about to air their next seasons and I am here for it! I have been dying to see what comes next for these shows and now that the news is in, let's talk about it!
My Hero Academia

Let's start with one of the first animes I ever covered here on Nerdom: My Hero Academia [MHA]. This show has become a stable classic in most anime households and for good reason. This is a quality shonen that keeps you interested, and sometimes emotional, all while having the classic traits we know and love for a shonen series. I am very happy to announce that we will finally be getting Season 5 NEXT MONTH. Not only that, but we have a solid date, too (which is more than I can say for the rest of these announcements)- March 27th! I want to issue a word of caution when roaming the internet for this one though- the newest volume of the manga was recently released and there are spoilers everywhere, so mind your eyes!
Fruits Basket

Shortly after MHA releases, you are going to have more to watch. In April, Fruits Basket Season 3 airs! Look at that teaser image! UGHHH! When I saw it, I screamed... I won't lie to you. This image is cropped but the original image does have a phrase on it. Depending on the translation you use it either says "Don't Go" or "Don't Leave Me"... interpret it how you will. Season 2 ended on some shocking notes and now it's time to get some answers! This is the final season of the show so make sure you tune in for a season of heart break, and hopefully redemption, as we reach the conclusion of Tohru and the Sohmas' epic story. No final date on this yet, but it is confirmed for April, so keep an eye out!
Beastars

Next up will be one of our Anime of the Year nominees- Beastars. We just did a whole review of this show, so I won't get into it too much. However, I bring this one up because Season 2 airs later this summer in July. No set date, yet again, but know it's coming. I am feeling thankful for this one because since I was late to the draw, I don't have to wait too long for this one like I did for the others. I am expecting good things from Season 2!
Mo Dao Zu Shi

All praise to my cousin and nerd 101 consult, Chelsea, who sent me the trailer when it dropped. I had a minor melt down and a noise left my body that made my family concerned that I was dying. I feel like I have been waiting 8 years for Mo Dao Zu Shi Season 3. It's been a year, Allison, don't be dramatic. Peanut gallery... Why do you come only to mock my pain? The point is that an official trailer has dropped for Season 3 and from the looks of it, the whole season will take place in the Yi City arc, for whoever has read the books, comic and/or watched the live action. I am simultaneously so ready and not prepared at all. I am extremely curious how the anime will handle this arc, as they have not been following the books very closely. Yi City has made me cry in every adaptation, so I have high hopes for this interpretation. Either way, I am extremely excited and don't doubt for a moment that I will enjoy whatever they've created. There is no release date yet (surprise), but most people are guessing we will see it on our screens by this fall. I personally am anticipating August, based on their previous release schedules. However, that doesn't account for any COVID delays they may or may not have experienced. If it is that far out, all I can say is please give me another trailer beforehand. I beg you!
Tower of God

I wish I had better news on this front but don't panic, and just hear me out. As of right now, Tower of God [ToG] has not been officially greenlit for it's second season. HOWEVER, I think this is largely due to the creator of the series, SIU, taking a hiatus and announcing last fall that he was unsure if he wanted to continue the series. Luckily, about a month later he redacted that and confirmed that the show would go on. However, that preemptive and quite scary announcement had to have some consequences, which I think is what we are seeing when it comes to the delays on news for the series. The producer of the show has spoken out and though the numbers aren't available for us to see, his comments make it seem like the first season did very well and that they are excited to continue. Not only that, but the rating for the show on IMDB, MyAnimeList, Crunchyroll, and Webtoon are all high. With that being said, I am confident that we will see announcements regarding Season 2 sometime this year.
The Promised Neverland

After that slightly depressing news on ToG, I want to throw you a bone. The Promised Neverland, Anime of the Year nominee for 2020 (and in my opinion the rightful winner), got its second season already! It just started airing last month on January 8th, and there are currently 5 episodes available. I have been so excited about this and cannot wait to watch it. I feel safe in saying this season is going to be amazing and this promo image makes me even more pumped to find out what is actually beyond the wall. If you can't wait for the other releases, start with this one; you won't be disappointed.
Jujutsu Kaisen

Here's another bone. Just a friendly reminder that Jujutsu Kaisen, another one of our Anime of the Year award nominees for this year, is STILL AIRING. Their first season isn't even over yet, so they are available to be checked out as well. This anime is extremely likely to take home a lot of awards come the 19th so know that it is well worth a watch.
There are so so so many other animes dropping new series or new season left and right but I just wanted to address some of the ones we talk about regularly on here. 2020/2021 have been rough for most people but the one good thing it has brought is amazing content. Take the little wins and go enjoy some new content! If you find anything good, make sure to drop me a line, because I could always use some great new obsessions.
Thank you so much for joining me this fine hump day for some Nerdom in review. I genuinely am so stoked about all of these and have been making predictions left and right with James. Someone may need to come save him soon... I hope you are having a great week! Make sure you finish strong and I will see you back this Sunday for The Mess. In the meantime, stay safe, [stay warm], stay nerdy, and stay messy otaku!
